This work was created in residency for USFCAM’s A Different Frame of Mind; an exhibition that begged the exploration of the frame as a device for exclusion. Now runneth over with Little Trees, this particular frame previously held work by Robert Rauschenberg.
Hours after installation, museum staff reported extreme physical reactions to the fragrance: burning eyes, nausea, difficulty breathing, etc. The piece was immediately removed from the exhibition space and stored off-site . It never returned to the exhibition - in it’s place hung a single air freshener with a brief, framed statement, dwarfed by the empty wall.
